Qualification

BSc  Fashion Designing, Textile,  Fine Arts or a similar course with a proven track record of working in the creative/ Fashion Industry. Candidates who demonstrate the greatest creativity as demonstrated by their fashion-design portfolios, collections of designs organized to best demonstrate their unique talents have a better chance of employment.

 

Job Description

  • An associate fashion designer identifies the latest trends in clothing and accessories and discusses the same with the senior designer.

  • Creating mood, shape and trend boards

  • Developing and explaining sketches on paper and in graphic design software to designers

  • Working closely with factories and suppliers

  • Selecting and purchasing materials, trimmings, and accessories and finding vendors who can supply quality material at cheaper rates.

  • Business development by searching for new clients including individuals, retail stores, etc.

  • Creating prototypes and tailoring a garment

  • Inspecting products during the design process

  • Participating in meetings with customers and fabric agents

  • Gaining approval from customers

  • Record maintenance for material purchases, sales, remaining stock, and production costs, etc.

  • Supervises work of the junior staff and interns.

  • He/She will manage design team.

  • Juggling Administrative and creative skills

An associate designer needs to be an efficient employee who can easily switch between administrative and creative tasks. He/She must know how to negotiate with vendors and persuade clients. He/She must be technically proficient in the most advanced applications used in designing. He/She should be comfortable in traveling and working extra hours so that the projects are finished within the assigned timeframe.

Note: Salary for an assistant designer would vary depending on qualification and experience.
