Bola Yahaya is an emerging sustainable brand with a considerable approach to design, with ethical production methods, proper artisan techniques and a leaning to minimal waste.

 Metamorphosis

Growing up not only put adulthood difficulties in its pouch, it appears to have regressed the metamorphosis of a butterfly. With this collection, I am seeking to ask questions that demand honest answers, When last did you see a butterfly across Lagos skies? As little kids, we ran around chasing butterflies while singing our rhymes. Now it appears these joy radiating creatures were almost never here with us.

Drawing inspiration from the cycle of the butterfly, the Metamorphosis collection calls to attention the dangers of rapid urbanization and its adverse effects on the humans and its environment. Trees and nature gives way to new buildings. On the other end, urban lifestyles tend to be consumptive and as such, they require great natural resources and generate large amounts of waste which leads to increased levels of air, water and soil pollution.

While our joy radiating butterflies may seem to be lost in the pouch of adulthood difficulties, our environment lies largely on its occupants in saving it.

Featuring a diverse range of garments from kaftans to wedding gown, the collection makes use of locally woven Asooke and upcycled deadstock fabrics into tie-dye with a leaning towards zero waste design through pattern drafting and fabric draping.
